By the Sea
Del Mar is a beach city in San Diego County and Del Mar actually means “by the sea”. Del Mar is the home of the Del Mar racetrack and also the site of the San Diego County Fair which is held every June 1st through July 4th. The Del Mar racetrack is also the host of the horse races which are held from July to September and again from November to mid-December. It has also coined the phrases “Where the Turf meets the Surf” and “Cool as Ever”.
